HubSpot is the engine behind SME of the Year

SME of the Year is a non-profit organization that has been leading an annual awards ceremony since 2022 to celebrate the people in Danish SMEs. We have helped them stay sharp digitally since the beginning.

Big ambitions in a small organization

An annual awards show that covers the entire country, and where anyone can nominate candidates, has many moving parts. Nominations, selection of candidates, planning interviews, voting, marketing and a website that ties it all together. Everything has to work together and point towards the event itself as smoothly as possible.

With a small organization behind it, SME of the Year needed those processes to run in one place. Scattered tools and manual workflows would quickly eat up the time that needed to be spent at the event. At the same time, it was important that the digital presence appeared complete from the beginning – both to be taken seriously by participants and to attract partners.

The task was twofold: a website that matched the ambitions, and a setup where data and workflows were collected in HubSpot rather than scattered.

In developing their website, we took their design guide and logo as a starting point to create a clear common thread and distinctive graphic elements that are used across the site.

Along the way, we added to the design guide so that it remained up-to-date and could easily be used for other marketing materials – both online and offline.

Seamless interaction between HubSpot and WordPress

This year's SME uses HubSpot as their CRM and marketing tool. To create as much synergy as possible and avoid duplication of effort, their WordPress website had to play seamlessly with HubSpot. A good example is their forms that feed data directly into the CRM, where it can be used for targeted marketing emails.

One setup that works all the way from nomination to award show

Today, SME of the Year runs the entire event from one professional setup in HubSpot. Settings are collected and handled in the same place, candidates are systematically assessed, and each step in the process has its own fixed place. It is a process that spans almost half a year, from the first nominations to the show taking place.

Marketing and communication run from the same platform. Newsletters, campaigns and follow-up draw on the same data, so nothing has to be entered twice. The WordPress website interacts directly with HubSpot, and forms feed data into the CRM, where it can be used for targeted communication.

The result is a comprehensive system that follows the event all the way, so SME of the Year also has time to plan the magnificent award show and pay tribute to the enthusiasts in Danish SMEs.
